SNCB Conditions are categorized into three pet types to ensure a comfortable journey for you and your pet on Belgian trains. Whether you're traveling with a small pet, a leashed pet, or a guide and assistance dog, SNCB provides clear guidelines to facilitate a smooth travel experience on the Belgian railways.
-
Small Pets: Small pets can travel for free in baskets, cages, or crates no larger than 30 x 55 x 30 cm. No ticket is required for these pets, making SNCB a convenient choice for passengers traveling with their small pets on Belgian trains.
-
Leashed Pets: If you're traveling with a leashed pet, you must purchase a Pet Supplement. A muzzle may be requested by the train attendant. To arrange this, please contact us through the contact form. This ensures that all passengers, including those with pets, have a pleasant journey on SNCB trains.
-
Guide and Assistance Dogs: These dogs travel for free, do not require a Pet Supplement, and do not need to wear a muzzle. You must present a personal access card from a recognized assistance dog training facility. This highlights SNCB’s commitment to accessibility and support for all passengers on its Belgian railways, ensuring a barrier-free travel experience.
New Pet Supplement Purchase Procedure:
When purchasing a Pet Supplement for your leashed pet, you’ll now see a new procedure on the website. Don’t worry, this is normal! Plan your trip, select the travellers, and add the Pet Supplement in the next step. Please note that adding your pet to a Local Multi or 10-trip card is no longer possible.
To learn more about the changes and purchase the supplement, please visit the SNCB website or contact us if you need assistance with booking. For more details on travelling with pets, visit the official SNCB website.
