Mechelen is a city in Belgium located near the capital Brussels and easily accessible by train. The rail station is located in the city center and provides excellent transport links. The Mechelen-Nekkerspoel railway station, located just outside the city center, is the main hub from which travelers can access the city from anywhere in Belgium or Europe. From the station, you have access to hourly regional trains, international high-speed Thalys trains, night trains, as well as regular bus and tram services.
If you plan to visit the city, you can use the public bus or tram from the railway station to explore the city. The bus station is close to the entrance of the station, from where you can take a bus to any part of the city. The tram station is conveniently located right outside the station. It links the city centre with the outskirts.
Once you're in the city, you can start exploring the sights, sounds, and flavors of Mechelen. You can take a tour around the city centre that takes you to the historic churches, medieval squares, gardens, museums, and monuments. A visit to the Town Hall, or the majestic Catholic Cathedral of St. Rombouts, is a must. There are also several art galleries, shops, restaurants and cafes to be found throughout the city.
You can even take a boat ride along the River Dijle to explore the stunning canals of Mechelen.
